You may well be asking yourself, well what courses does she actually run? I work on AQA GCSE English Language.
Core and Score Programme - Year 11
- A 12 week programme primarly focusing on the writing questions (creative and imaginative) on Paper 1 and 2, Sections B.
- A focus also on the heavily weighted 'evaluation question' (20 marks) on Paper 1 and 'comparison' question (14 marks) on Paper 2.
- Specific areas of concern can also be addressed with students.
Core and Score Programme - Year 10
- A 12 week programme familiarsing students with the layout of Paper 1 and Paper 2 for GCSE Language.
The Reading element of the course:-
- Tackling skills needed for the language and structure questions
- Learning the skills needed to 'evaluate' and 'compare'
- Practising inference skills
- Recognising bias and perspective
- Analysing mood and tone
The Writing element of the course:-
- Write coherent, well-structured analytical responses
- Adapt writing style for different purposes and audiences
- Use sophisticated vocabulary and varied sentence structures
- Construct effective arguments with supporting evidence
- Self-edit and improve their own writing
English Language Foundations: Gateway to GCSE Year 9
- Confidence boost to enable students to transition into Key Stage 4 by:-
- developing analytical reading skills for both fiction and non-fiction texts
- building confident writing skills across different forms and purposes
- introducing GCSE-style questions and assessment criteria
- establishing independent study habits
